We Set The Record Straight

Ohio House Democratic Caucus and the Campaign for the Moderate Majority expressed their regret for running false advertisements against Nan Baker during her State Representative 2008 election.

I am pleased to announce that my Westlake City Council voting record has been corrected by the Ohio House Democratic Caucus per a statement issued on May 4, 2009 and by the Campaign for the Modern Majority (affiliated with the SEIU 1199, OEA, OAJ and AVO) per a statement issued February 2, 2010. In a very negative 2008 campaign by the Ohio House Democratic Caucus and the Campaign for the Moderate Majority, many false statements were mailed to homes and broadcast on network television. The most alarming lie accused Nan Baker of raising taxes to residents that called for ambulance services. Every statement made regarding Emergency Medical Services (EMS), with no exception, was false. To resolve the dispute, a statement was prepared to set the record straight.

"I am disappointed that the Ohio Democratic Caucus and the Campaign for the Moderate Majority and their affiliates resorted to an absolutely false attack during the last campaign. They attempted to use scare tactics to frighten the people of our community, and to put our residents at risk for personal gain was unconscionable. To end this practice, I sponsored House Bill 538 to toughen penalties for those found in violation of the Ohio Elections Commission statutes."
